  • Location Raanana
  • Industry High-tech systems and materials
  • Online since 2020-02-09

Frisimos (frisimos.com) is forming an EU consortium to answer a call to the Horizon 2020 program. The area is Agile Production.  We are leading the market of automatic robotics assembly of cables today. We are looking for technological and end-user companies in the Netherlands to join the consortium. Robotics in Application Areas and Coordination & Support ID: ICT-46-2020

A few words about us

Frisimos (frisimos.com) is high-tech company registered in Israel. Together with the German Metzner (metzner.com) we are developing the first in the market today fully automatic and agile production line for multi-core cables (such as Ethernet cables, USB and many more). Frisimos is providing the innovative components to the line and Metzner is providing the automation and cable handling parts.

The patented robotics technologies and laser based solutions that we have developed are the missing links to the process, and they enable the fully autonomous and agile assembly of cable and connectors. This flexibly supports the users for producing different types of products on the same assembly line. The market size of cable assembly is around 180 Billion Euro annually, and is growing rapidly in all segments.

About the call

We are working toward responding to a call for proposals by the European Commission (Horizon 2020 Framework Programme) concerning agile production, and currently are forming a consortium of relevant companies and organizations. In this Innovation Actions (IA) call ict-46-2020, our proposal will address Focus area b): Agile production.

This call offers a 6-7 Million Euro budget to EC companies that collaborate to establish pilots capable of demonstrating the use of robotics at large scale in actual operating environments. During the IA project, we would like to install our robotic assembly lines in different production facilities in the EU in order demonstrate their operation at large scale.

The consortium will include  3-4 technology companies, 1-2 standardization bodies, 1 cyber security company , and 3-5 end users from different market segments (automotive, communication, medical, and a shared production center).  As a consortium we are seeking end users not only representing different industry segments, but also sufficient geographical spread, that will demonstrate the pan-European economic and competitive impact of our agile production lines.

We are looking for potential partners in the Netherlands for joining us in responding to the EU consortium.

End-users can be company that assembles cables for itself (like for example Philips), or company that provides Philips the cables. End-user can also be cable assembly factory that supplies vehicle companies its cables and harnesses.

Technology company can be company dealing with robotics.

The Market

The market for cable assembly solutions is suitable to answer the EC’s call requirements, owing to the following aspects:

  • The market is based today almost entirely on manual labour
  • The demand for ultimate quality in cable and connector products is becoming critical due to the safety and reliability concerns in various market sectors (e.g., medical and  electrical vehicles)
  • Competition in the electrical/electronic cables market is forcing manufacturers to reduce costs significantly
  • There is massive growth of demand for ready assembled cables of all varieties
  • The complexity of the current assembly processes results in low productivity
  • The high mix / low volume profile requires solutions to be modular and flexible
